This Privacy Policy describes how TheJMStudios ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and
handles
information in connection with the Meridix Compass application for Android and the associated
website at meridix.thejmstudios.com (collectively, the "Services").
By downloading, installing, or using Meridix Compass, you acknowledge that you have read and
understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please
discontinue use of the Services immediately.
No account required. Meridix Compass does not require you to create an account
or
provide any personally identifying information to use the application.
Meridix Compass is designed to be minimal in its data collection. We do not ask for, collect, or
store any personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, phone number, or
payment details. The following categories of technical data may be collected automatically
through
third-party services integrated into the application:
- Device information — device model, operating system version, and hardware
identifiers used solely for crash diagnostics.
- Usage data — anonymised information about how you interact with the app,
such as screens viewed and features used.
- Crash reports — stack traces and diagnostic data generated when the
application encounters an error.
- Performance metrics — app launch times and response data used to identify
performance regressions.
Sensor data (compass heading, accelerometer readings) processed by Meridix Compass is used
exclusively on-device in real time to provide directional information. It is never transmitted
to our servers or to any third party.
To improve the quality and stability of Meridix Compass, we use the following third-party
services operated by Google:
-
Google Analytics for Firebase — collects anonymised usage data such as
event
counts, session duration, and screen engagement. This data helps us understand which
features
are used most and how we can improve the overall experience.
-
Firebase Crashlytics — automatically captures crash reports and diagnostic
information when the application encounters an unhandled error. This enables us to identify,
prioritise, and resolve stability issues quickly.
Both services are subject to Google's own Privacy Policy, available at
policies.google.com/privacy. Data collected by these services may be processed
on Google's servers in accordance with Google's data processing terms.
Analytics and crash data is used solely by TheJMStudios for internal
diagnostics
and product improvement. It is never used for advertising, user profiling, or resale.
The technical data described above is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- Diagnosing and resolving application crashes and errors.
- Monitoring application performance and stability.
- Understanding aggregate usage patterns to guide product development.
- Improving the reliability and user experience of Meridix Compass.
We do not use any collected data to identify individual users, build user profiles,
serve targeted advertisements, or make automated decisions that affect users.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share any user data with
advertisers, data brokers, marketing partners, or other third parties for commercial purposes.
Data may be shared with the following parties solely to operate the Services:
- Google (Firebase / Analytics) — as described in the Analytics and Crash
Reporting section above, under Google's terms of service.
- Legal authorities — only if required to do so by applicable law, court
order, or governmental regulation.
No other data sharing occurs. Third-party service providers integrated into the application
operate under their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.
Meridix Compass is available to users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personally
identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital
consent in your jurisdiction).
Because no account creation is required and no personal data is solicited during use of
the application, Meridix Compass is designed to be safe for users of all ages. If you are
a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided personal information to us,
please contact us at the address below so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information handled
through the Services against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Third-party services used
within the application — including Google Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics — implement
industry-standard security practices under Google's infrastructure.
However, no method of data transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee
absolute security of information transmitted over the internet or through third-party systems.
Your use of the Services is at your own risk with respect to data security.
